EMDR Therapy
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured psychological therapy designed to help you process distressing memories and experiences that may be contributing to current difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, or negative self-beliefs.
It is an evidence-based therapy, endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and approved by Medicare Australia as a psychological strategy under the Better Access initiative.
EMDR doesn’t require you to talk in detail about past events. Instead, it focuses on how your brain stores those experiences and helps reduce their ongoing emotional impact. Through guided sets of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports your brain’s natural ability to heal, allowing you to feel less stuck and more in control.

EMDR has been shown to assist with a wide range of concerns, including:
Anxiety and panic
Depression and low mood
Stress and burnout
Low self-esteem or negative self-beliefs
Difficulties linked to childhood experiences
Relationship patterns or attachment wounds
Recovery from adverse life events or trauma
Grief and loss
Adjustment after significant life changes
You don’t need to have experienced a single traumatic event to benefit from EMDR.

At Networks Psychology, EMDR is often the foundation of therapy, but I tailor each approach to suit your individual needs. I integrate strategies from:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Schema Therapy
This ensures that therapy is flexible, holistic, and aligned with your goals.
I offer EMDR through:
Standard 50-minute sessions
Where appropriate, EMDR Intensives via Lumify Health, a separate service for clients seeking a focused, extended format
-
EMDR may be suitable if you're:
Motivated to address past experiences affecting your present
Seeking more than just symptom management
Open to a structured, evidence-based approach
Wanting to feel less reactive, more grounded, and more in control of your life
If you're unsure whether EMDR is the right fit, I’m happy to discuss your individual situation.
